You can see my Promotional Pack Assignment 04 submission in this blog, as the productions stills 1-3, DVD package 1, and the Poster Competition winner 1. The rest of the Promotional Material is from Tom Cant, productions stills 4-6, DVD package 2, and the Poster Competition winner 2.
I spent a lot of time on the Promo Pack and overall I felt I did rather well.
Posters. We had to produce a minimum of 3 posters, so I decided to do just 3, but to do them well.
I focused my designs around the Seraphi character, and Thomas focused on the Nihl character, because I thought we would have a more diverse set of posters when combined together, yet being different to reflect the character's differences also.
The Posters were simple, yet I did use many subtle photo-shop effects. The layout of each had a followed the central axis and I had kept the design language consistent across the three posters. Just like in the film, I tried to slowly reveal the Seraphi Character, by first having her in a long shot, where all you can see is the environment (dominating the shot) and her light from a distance, Poster 1.
Then I have a, from behind, silhouette shot of her and I wanted her to seem like she was glowing, Angelic like, yet I gave her a very evil looking shadow, to contrast this and so you are not sure of her intentions just like Nihl and the audience, in the film, Poster 2.
The last poster, 3, reveals her to the audience, by using a close frontal shot of her, having her lit up from the front and framing her with the shadows, making her the focus of the poster.
I will follow this post with another, talking about the DVD Packaging.
Ari.
